This is from my friend....any ideas?
Does anyone know how to cure hiccups in a pet? Bazil (my rabbit) has had hiccups for the last 2-3 days or more, and they seem to be getting more frequent (about 1 per second and constant). I'm sure they will eventually go away, but if anyone has any ideas....

Re: hiccups
Fri, August 17, 2007 - 7:59 PMOh wow! I've never heard of this, CoCo! Maybe a vet visit is in order here. It's hard enough to cure hiccups in humans - I don't know what it might take to get rid of it in animals. I feel for you, Darlin'. This is not good. Get your friend's bunny to the vet. You don't want Bazil suffering (i.e., losing sleep, getting agitated or afraid). Do your best to get Bazil to your vet. Ok? And keep me (all of us) posted!
Poor Bunny.......

Re: hiccups
Sun, August 19, 2007 - 5:23 AMI agree it cant be normal for the hiccups to stay so long, I would say get the wee fellow to the vet on Monday for a check up and even if that still doesnt work, at least you know the bunny is in good health and you can rest easy and wait for the hiccups to go.
would be interested to see what the vet says - one of my dogs gets them quite often but I figure it is because he eats too fast. -

Re: hiccups
Sun, August 19, 2007 - 8:46 PMThis is slightly off-topic, but I've been told that my unborn son is eventually going to have hiccups in my womb! [I'm nearly at 6 months.]
I don't think there's too much I can do to fix that, LOL! Somehow I don't think putting a paper bag over my belly is going to do the trick.
Our 2 German Shepherds have never had the hiccups, to my knowledge. ;)
But yeah, a bunny having non-stop hiccups... definitely time for the vet. Poor little thing. :( -

Mon, August 20, 2007 - 8:32 AMThe second opinion came back and said the x-ray looked fine and that the hiccups would just run their course. Whew! Thanks for everyones advice on a non-dog animial : ) -
