--Our little wiggler Ringo may have a disintegrating disc and the doc recommends an MRI but crimmeny! We got a low bid and a high bid (variations in meds, etc) and both are over $3,000! Does anyone know of any deals that might be had in Northern California?

Re: Any cheap MRI leads??
Sun, June 29, 2008 - 10:57 PMMRI's are very expensive. Have you checked Animal Care Center? PetCare? Redwood? Davis (if you are willing to travel)? You may also want to speak with someone at Bright Haven; they may have some contacts.
BTW, I have never heard of MRI's less than $3000. Most facilities can't even afford to buy a piece of equipment of that nature. Perhaps ask if a facility would be willing to do something pro bono and what would qualify you for such a program.
There is a doctor who specializes in disintegrated disc disease, but his name isn't coming to be. I would try calling around some more and see what you find.
Good luck. -

Thu, July 3, 2008 - 2:22 PMBright Haven: www.brighthaven.org or by phone: (707) 578-4800. They take care elderly/special needs animals. I was thinking they may have some other leads for you. -

Re: Any cheap MRI leads??
Mon, July 7, 2008 - 12:15 AMI just randomly saw something in Bay Woof (www.baywoof.com) that said something about an Iams facility in SF that does MRI's. It isn't this issue... perhaps the last one?
BTW, just because they say holistic doesn't mean they wouldn't have leads for something like MRI's.
