Re: SIGN THE PETITION TO SUSPEND NFL QB FOR DOG FIGHTING
Mon, July 23, 2007 - 12:40 PMPeople are really really mad about this. They have 33,000 signatures, and their goal was 20,000. When I signed last week, 5 signatures were added in 30 seconds after mine. I just wish it wasn't for a suspension; he should be banned from football so that when he gets out of jail he doesn't have any job prospects except for, oh, picking up dog shit in the park would be good. -

Mon, July 23, 2007 - 1:02 PMi've signed also and passed along to my friends..........i only hope this petition will be followed by one putting him behind bars for years to come....the one good thing about this happening is that it has brought the whole sick and barbaric practice into full view of the media so that hopefully this will do for dogfighting what finding out about rock hudson did for aids awareness.........let people know that THIS DOES GO ON and HAS to be stopped!!!!

Re: SIGN THE PETITION TO SUSPEND NFL QB FOR DOG FIGHTING
Tue, July 24, 2007 - 1:21 AMThanks for posting this. Hopefully everyone will feel the urge to not only sign it, but talk to their local agencies about what needs to be done. animals considered as "property" and unbelievably low penalties, even if found guilty, keep animal fighters in business. KQED just did a special (which you can listen to online). "Off the chain" is an informative video you can probably get from the library/netflix - if you feel you're not motivated enough and need the fury of disgust. As much as we all hate the current "vick" inspired events, it is up to us to respond by contacting our local (wherever we live) authorities. SF has an animal commission, a very active animal welfare community (call upon your local Animal-government-Agency and private rescues). In a world where we recognize the cycle of violence, it is amazing that we let such "sport" continue. For those of us in the SF Bay Area. . . now is the time to contact the animal commission, ACC (Carl Friendman) and others (BadRap, etc) to see how we can help. This is an issue of violence, of animal rights, of rescue, of sheltering, of breeding, etc.
Change ONLY happens when the environment is ripe for it. There is no time like the present. Loud voices now. Sustained.
