Happy Renuions

So its 10 minutes to closing, and a dog runs into out lobby, no tags, no collar, an choke chain with no information attached to a jumping licking, puppy full of excitement and energy......

sigh......

so there I am coaxing a puppy into my arms (which wasn't hard to do) and then convincing her she wants to come with me as we head off to get her rescued.....

a trip to the animal shelter with my spare leash from the car and to my amazement while I'm filling out her paper work the counter person scans the back of her neck and a "ping" goes off, "Yep, she's been tagged, here write the number down......" two minutes later a phone call is made and bingo, the puppy has an owner and they have a phone number to call.....

So as I head out, I get to thinking..... wow a micro-chip just made some family's day.... I know my rescue dogs have them, but I wonder what information is on there and is it current..... and how does someone go about finding out?

Yay for you ! Great job. Thank you.

You can check your micro-chip at the vet - I checked my dog (rescue) that I found and ended up keeping... she was not chipped, but I did it at my vets. I believe they can upload new info as well...

Right. You could also take your dogs to the shelter and ask them to scan them for you. Then you contact the chip company with the chip number and new info.
